Fundamental research in the field of energy-saving light sources is concentrated now on investigation of novel principles and/or novel kinds of materials highly effectively converting the input energy into emission at variety of wavelengths. Novel nano-materials and methods of their preparation offer valuable potential for new solutions in this field, particularly for novel laser sources. The project will focus on methods of preparation of novel thulium-doped nano-crystalline ZnxTiyOz based spinels and chromium-alumina (ruby) nano-particles embedded in silica matrices exhibitting enhanced emission. The proposed project is aimed at extending knowledge in the field of (nano)material research. Novel materials with enhanced fluorescence and methodological approaches of their fabrication will represent main results of the project.
