1980-1983 Ph.D. thesis from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague.
1974-1979 Graduated in chemistry from Charles University, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prague.

1989-1990 Postdoctoral associate at the Department of Biochemistry, Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis, IN, USA; laboratory of Prof. A.DePaoli-Roach.
 
Appointments
since 2007 Head of the Research Team (Antimicrobial Peptides), Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry v.v.i., Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague.
2003-2006 The position of research associate at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ, USA. The responsibility was to set up and be in charge of Stevens Institute field laboratory in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Working plan of the laboratory was to isolate different chemicals from insects, marine and plants for possible application in pharmaceutical research. This mission also comprised lecturing of students from different US universities during their summer courses in Punta Cana, the demonstrations and instructions for Dominican scientists and students in Santo Domingo. In 2006 established and launched another laboratory of chemical ecology at the Autonomy University of Santo Domingo.
2001-2003 Joined the group of Prof. H.A.Scheraga, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Cornell University (Ithaca, NY, USA), where carried out chemical synthesis of ribonuclease A with constrained proline residue.
1993-2000 Senior scientist at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague.
