Seminar / Tue, 08/04/2014 - 10:00

Dr. Otakar Frank (Department of Electrochemical Materials, J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry, v.v.i.)

Raman spectroscopy is the undisputed method of choice for a simple, fast and non-destructive characterization of graphene. Its capabilities go far beyond the commonly used assessment of quality a layer number. The lecture will review some of the recent advances as well as pitfalls in determining various states and properties of graphene systems, like disentangling strain level and charge carrier concentration, determining bending rigidity or investigating interaction between individual layers in bilayer graphene.

Seminar / Wed, 16/04/2014 - 15:00

Petr Trávníček (Institute of Physics ASCR, Prague)

Workshop / Thu, 24/04/2014 - 09:00 - Fri, 25/04/2014 - 18:00

V. Petříček, M. Dušek, J. Rohlíček

Ad hoc workshops are small two days workshops organized by authors of the crystallographic software Jana2006. The topics and dates are selected by participants in Jana web pages. A workshop is organized as soon as an overlap in subscribed topics is found. The topics of the 17th workshop are as follows: (INT1) Simple 3d structures; (INT2) Simple 4d modulated structures; (DIS) Disordered structures; (RIG) Application of rigid body; (TW) Twinning. Program details will be given in the workshop page.

Workshop / Mon, 28/04/2014 - 09:00 - Tue, 29/04/2014 - 18:00

Conference / Mon, 19/05/2014 - Fri, 23/05/2014

The idea of regular scientific meetings of physicist involved in studies of ferroelectrics and phase transitions in Poland and Czechoslovakia followed inevitably from the success of first such event in Blazejewko in 1979. The Seminar was organized in collaborating of the Department of Dielectric of the Institute of Physics of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Ferroelectric Lab of the Institute of Molecular Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences. The Seminars are an international forum for presentation of recent results, unconstrained discussions and initiating of joint studies.

Workshop / Mon, 30/06/2014 - Wed, 02/07/2014

It is widely recognized that the first-principles based calculations of strongly correlated materials are important for understanding physical and chemical properties. The quantitative materials theory makes remarkable impact on the modern technology. This workshop aims to disseminate the present knowledge in this rich and vivid field. We invite both theoreticians and experimentalists to discuss development and applications of the correlated band methods based on a combination of the density functional theory and the dynamical mean field theory.

Conference / Sun, 24/08/2014 - Fri, 29/08/2014

ELI Beamlines announce that the ELI Beamlines Summer School (ELISS 2014) will be held in Prague, The Czech Republic from Sunday August 24th, 2014 to Friday August 29th, 2014.
