Nobel Prize Winner Chris Sims Is Co-author with CERGE-EI Faculty Member

CERGE-EI offers its congratulations to the 2011 Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences, Thomas Sargent and Christopher Sims, who were awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences on October 10, 2011 for their research that sheds light on the cause-and-effect relationship between the economy and policy instruments such as interest rates and government spending.

Further congratulations to Filip Matějka who has recently co-authored a working paper with Professor Sims in the CERGE-EI Working Paper series titled "Discrete Actions in Information-Constrained Tracking Problems."

CERGE-EI Brings Celebrity Economists to Forum 2000

Press Release: Celebrity economists at Forum 2000

This year’s 15th annual Forum 2000 conference, which takes place on 9-11 October in Prague, features several prestigious economic panels. Speakers include Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz and other world famous economists such as Hernando de Soto, Kenneth Dam, and Stephen Knack. The economic panels are co-organized by the Forum 2000 Foundation and by CERGE-EI, a Prague academic institution, as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations.

CERGE-EI Graduate Ranks Third Among Economists in German-Speaking Regions

Pavlo Blavatskyy, Professor of Experimental Economics at the University of Innsbruck and CERGE-EI graduate (PhD 2005) placed third in the German daily Handelsblatt's ranking of top 100 economists under the age of 40 in German speaking regions (Austria, Germany and Switzerland). CERGE-EI ESC Member Alan Krueger Nominated as Chair of US Council of Economic Advisers

CERGE-EI ESC Member Alan B. Krueger was nominated earlier today to chair Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) by US President Barack Obama. The CEA is the US Government's highest economic-policy making body. Professor Kruger joined the CERGE-EI ESC in November 2010 after leaving prior government service as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy.
