Seminar / Tue, 06/05/2014 - 13:00 - 13:30

Prof. Nikolay Galkin (Institute of Automation and Control Processes of FEB RAS, 5 Radio Str., 690041, Vladivostok, Russia)

In presented report short review of nanocomposite structure formation based on embedded nanocrystallites of semiconductor silicides of Fe, Cr, Mg, Mn, Ca in the monocrystalline and poycrystalline silicon in silicon and their electrical and optical properties have been presented. It was shown that b-FeSi2 and CrSi2 NCs with sizes (5-20 nm) have a strained crystal structure with lattice constants on 1.0 – 2.5% smaller than those for the bulk silicides.

Seminar / Tue, 06/05/2014 - 13:30 - 14:00

Oleg Babchenko (Institute of Physics ASCR)

The presentation will be devoted to the results of the research work that includes:

  • Investigation of the different nucleation strategies influence on diamond thin film growth using the microwave plasma assisted chemical vapour deposition (CVD) technique. In addition, study on the selective area diamond structures deposition, as related to previous;
  • Continuous and porous poly- and nano-crystalline diamond films growth in the two different types of deposition equipment.

Vladimír Zobač (Department of Thin Films and Nanostructures, FZÚ AV ČR, v.v.i.)

Abstract: Non-adiabatic molecular dynamics provides an important tool for the study of photochemical reactions, which has potential application in many fields. Non-adiabatic molecular dynamics is rapidly developing field of research and various non-adiabatic methods based on quantum or classical trajectories were developed. One of the most commonly used method is trajectory surface hopping method, which offer an interesting compromise between accuracy and efficiency for the simulation of large-scales molecular systems.

Seminar / Tue, 06/05/2014 - 15:00 - 16:00

Richard Berndt (Institut für Experimentelle und Angewandte Physik, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany)

The electron transport through single molecules and atoms as well as molecule--molecule contacts is investigated with low-temperature scanning probe microscopy. In the experiments, which aim at maximizing the control over the junction properties, the conductance, the acting forces and the emission of photons are probed. The talk will initially address the role of molecular structure and bonding as well as quantum noise properties. In a second part, I will present some recent results on the structure of the ZnO(0001) surface and the spectroscopy of subsurface donors.

Conference / Mon, 19/05/2014 - Fri, 23/05/2014

The idea of regular scientific meetings of physicist involved in studies of ferroelectrics and phase transitions in Poland and Czechoslovakia followed inevitably from the success of first such event in Blazejewko in 1979. The Seminar was organized in collaborating of the Department of Dielectric of the Institute of Physics of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Ferroelectric Lab of the Institute of Molecular Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences. The Seminars are an international forum for presentation of recent results, unconstrained discussions and initiating of joint studies.

Seminar / Wed, 21/05/2014 - 15:00

Antonio Lucianetti (Institute of Physics ASCR)

High-energy-class diode-pumped solid-state lasers are being developed worldwide for new scientific and industrial applications, including particle acceleration, intense X-ray generation and inertial confinement fusion. Traditional efforts to scale the output energy of solid-state lasers have led to undesirable beam-quality degradation.

Workshop / Mon, 30/06/2014 - Wed, 02/07/2014

It is widely recognized that the first-principles based calculations of strongly correlated materials are important for understanding physical and chemical properties. The quantitative materials theory makes remarkable impact on the modern technology. This workshop aims to disseminate the present knowledge in this rich and vivid field. We invite both theoreticians and experimentalists to discuss development and applications of the correlated band methods based on a combination of the density functional theory and the dynamical mean field theory.

Conference / Sun, 24/08/2014 - Fri, 29/08/2014
