13th Workshop of the Global Development Network
On 15-16 August 2013, CERGE-EI held its 13th annual workshop for grantholders in the Global Development Network (GDN)-financed Regional Research Competition. The GDN provides funds to support high-quality regional research on applied, policy-relevant topics.

New Members Have Joined CERGE-EI's Faculty
The research and teaching environment at CERGE-EI will get even more interesting this fall with the arrival of two new faculty members: Marek Kapička (PhD, University of Chicago) and Nikolas Mittag (PhD, University of Chicago). Professor Kapička arrives as Associate Professor with tenure and Professor Mittag is an Assistant Professor. CERGE-EI is delighted to welcome these new talented scholars to our academic community.

Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Eric Maskin at CERGE-EI
At the end of April 2013, we had the honor to welcome Prof. Eric Maskin (Harvard University) to CERGE-EI in Prague. On April 29, Prof. Maskin gave a public lecture titled “How to Make the Right Decisions without Knowing People's Preferences: An Introduction to Mechanism Design.”
