Visiting Students
Non-matriculated CERGE-EI Visiting Student Opportunities
CERGE-EI welcomes study/research stays of several visiting students yearly and makes every effort to assist and encourage their participation in academic activities. A foreign Ph.D. candidate (i.e full-time enrolled student working on his/her thesis) interested in a study/research stay at CERGE-EI must send an official request to the CERGE-EI Study Affairs Office. There is no standard form, but this request should contain the following information:
- An explanation as to why the stay is important for the student’s academic development,
- What the student plans to do at CERGE-EI, possibly who he/she wants to collaborate with while here,
- When the student wants to arrive, how long he/she wishes to stay,
- Basic requirements (access to computer labs, network connection, shared office space, etc.)
- An up-to-date CV,
- A Letter of Recommendation from the student’s thesis supervisor (or from the director of the student’s program),
- Details that the student can meet the minimum requirement for our co-financing (including health insurance for the entire stay),
- Individual possibilities for co-financing of research stays (i.e. for purchasing research-related resources, etc.).
Requests are assessed individually at the meeting of CERGE-EI Deputy Directors who will make decisions based on both academic qualifications, current availability of facilities and resources at CERGE-EI.
Note: All visiting students are required to present their research paper at a brown bag or regular seminar at CERGE-EI.
