Virology (Dr. Jan Weber)

Virology research-service team was established to aid in IOCB drug discovery program by providing in-house facility for screening of antiviral compounds against variety of viruses. In addition, the Virology team cooperates with other departments on research projects involving work with viruses. We are primarily focused on HIV research including testing novel compounds against HIV, elucidating their mechanism, and performing drug resistance studies. Furthermore, we are interested in implications of HIV replicative fitness on HIV pathogenesis and AIDS progression.
