P. Bobák has focused his research in 1977 – 2000 on animal biochemical genetics. In 1975 he graduated from the Czech Agriculture University and started his career in 1977 at the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics in Liběchov. In 1984 he defended his doctoral thesis on biochemical genetics at the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR).
In 1993 he was Science Secretary of the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR), after which he became Head of the Technical Service Department and Deputy Director of the Institute for Organisation and Operations. From 1990 through 2006 he was a member of the Institute’s Scientific Council and in 2007 he was elected Vice Chairman of its Council. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Economy Council AS CR and since 2005 he has been its Vice Chairman . He is Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Council for the Centre of Administration and Operation ASCR, v.v.i. From 1989-1990 he was on a research stay in INRA Jouy-en-Josas (France).

PUBLIC COLLECTION OF IMG AS CR, V. V. I. On August 6th, 2014, the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the AS CR, v. v. i., (IMG) opened a public collection aimed to help 14-year-old Katareeya Epp, who is suffering from a severe form of cancer. Her parents are employed in the IMG (project BIOCEV).
Because Katareeya originates from a “third country”, namely, Australia, according to the Czech legislation she is not entitled to healthcare support from the public healthcare insurance.
