On August 6th, 2014, the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the AS CR, v. v. i., (IMG) opened a public collection aimed to help 14-year-old Katareeya Epp, who is suffering from a severe form of cancer. Her parents are employed in the IMG (project BIOCEV).

Because Katareeya originates from a “third country”, namely, Australia, according to the Czech legislation she is not entitled to healthcare support from the public healthcare insurance.

CZECH BRAIN – project to support highly qualified scientists and technicians
The project comprises a complex of assignments the goal of which is to popularize science and to enhance social prestige of native technical and research workers as important initiators of the country’s economic prosperity. In the framework of the competition prizes are awarded in eight categories . A professional jury decides seven prizes. The Czech Republic Government decides on the Council for Research and Development’s nomination of the National Prize of the Government of the Czech Republic - The Czech Brain for outstanding achievement attained in the field of research and development.   Detailed project information and the competition statute can be found on: http://www.ceskahlava.cz  
 
Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Award for outstanding achievements in research, experimental development and innovation.

Foundation “Nadání Josefa, Marie a Zdeňky Hlávkových“ (“Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávka Endowment“):
Josef Hlávka Prize for best students and alumni of Prague state universities, Brno Technical University in Brno and talented junior workers of the ASCR (age limit 35),
Josef Hlávka Medal honours doyens and founders of Czech science and art as and acknowledgement of their life’s work qui bono Czech science, art and education,
Josef Hlávka Prize for Literatue for best scientific publications,
Special Josef Hlávka Award as the prime recognocition of outstanding scientific work or art work that continue Czech and European cultural and humanistic traditions.  
 
The President of the ASCR submits for approval Josef Hlávka Prize and Josef Hlávka Medal nominations to the administraton council of the foundation. PRAEMIUM BOHEMIAE Awards
Endowment Awards are presented to personalities (or teams) for significantmeritorius development in scientific disciplines of economics, medicine, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and nature preservation. The list of nominated candidates is submitted by a committee of at least three qualified members that are nominated by prime scientific and art institutions (e.g. the Czech Rectors’ Conference, the ASCR, Učená společnost ČR/ Scholarly Academic Society of the Czech Republic) and which is designated by the administration board of the foundation. Detailed information on award presentations
