Frédéric Marin completed his academic career studying a wide range of scientific fields: industrial physics, chemistry and metallurgy [2005 - 2007], renewable energies [2007-2008] and theoretical physics [2008-2010]. In September 2013, he obtained his PhD in Strasbourg, France under the supervision of Dr. René Goosmann and Dr. Delphine Porquet. In January 2014, Frédéric Marin has started to officiate as a post-doctorate researcher in the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Frédéric's fields of expertise cover active and non-active galactic nuclei, both explored through numerical, radiative transfer codes. He is particularly interested into the polarimetric signatures of light and constraints that can be derived from. The first hundred of parsecs around supermassive black holes being hardly resolvable through spectroscopy, optical-to-X-rays polarimetry might then bring complementary informations to fully understand complex nuclear environments. Frédéric Marin has been the co-Pi of several spectropolarimetric observations at the VLT and took part of the S-class pathfinder mission project XIPE (the X-ray Imaging Polarimetry Explorer).
