Program Overview
The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) offers the following graduate programs in modern Economics to students from around the world:
PhD in Economics
The PhD in Economics is a US-style program consisting of two years of MA-level course work leading to a U.S. Master in Economics, followed by two to four years of supervised dissertation research. Graduates receive both U.S. and Czech PhD degrees in Economics. Students often conduct part of their research at top universities abroad. A majority of the students are awarded full tuition waivers and receive stipends.

MA in Applied Economics
The Master of Arts in Applied Economics is a tuition-based, one-year program designed for applicants interested in gaining a rigorous economics education and analytical skills. The program is practically oriented and prepares students for professional careers in top-level positions in economics, finance, and other relevant fields. Graduates receive a U.S. MA in Applied Economics degree.

Joint Masters in Economics
The Joint Masters in Economics program is a cooperative effort of CERGE-EI and the Institute of Economic Studies (IES) of Charles University in Prague. It combines PhD level courses at CERGE-EI with Master’s-level courses at IES. This program is designed for students holding Bachelor's degrees who want to obtain rigorous scientific training in economics and keep open the possibility to continue with PhD studies.

In addition, CERGE-EI offers two study abroad programs for US and other undergraduates.
Undergraduate Program in Central European Studies (UPCES)
The UPCES program represents a cooperation between CERGE-EI and the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University in Prague. The program is intended for students interested in the rigorous study of Central European history, politics, art and culture.
