We would like to introduce recent accomplishments of our PhD alumni.
Barbara Pertold-Gebicka
We are proud to announce that our PhD graduate, Barbara Pertold-Gebicka has been awarded first place in the competition for the “Prof. Frantisek Vencovsky Prize”, awarded to the most talented young economists in the Czech Republic. She succeeded with her paper titled “Job Market Polarization and Employment Protection in Europe”.
It is the first time in the history of competition that a female economist has taken first place. Barbara is working as an Assistant Professor at IES. After graduating from CERGE-EI, she spent two years as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
About the prize
The competition is annouced by the rector of VSFS. It is named after Frantisek Vencovsky, a distinguished expert in monetary and financial economy. This year’s topic was „European Economics and its Perspectives“. The competition is open to young economists under 35 and has established itself as an important source of support for economic research.
