Marek Kapička Receives J. E. Purkyně Fellowship

We are pleased to announce that Marek Kapička, an Associate Professor with Tenure at CERGE-EI as of September 2013, has obtained the J.E. Purkyně Fellowship. The Fellowship will help facilitate his transition back to Prague following a distinguished career in the United States.
Third Place in "Young Economist of the Year" Goes to CERGE-EI

Two accomplished CERGE-EI Junior Researchers, Anna Kochanova and Vahagn Yerbashian, won the third place in the competition for young economists with their paper "The impact of telecommunication technologies on competition in services and goods markets: Empirical Evidence". The prize is awarded annually by the Czech Economic Society.
NFKJ NEURON Awards for Jan Švejnar and Jakub Steiner

Professor Švejnar won the NEURON 2012 Award for his lifetime achievement in Economics, granted by the Karel Janeček Foundation in Support of Science and Research. Together with other laureates, Prof. Švejnar gave a speech not only on his profound research in the area of enterprise performance, but also about his career beginnings and interesting aspects of academic life.
Jakub Steiner was granted the NEURON 2012 Award for young Economics researchers under the age of 40. A CERGE-EI graduate, Jakub had for several years practiced game-theoretic research at the University of Edinburgh and the Northwestern University, before returning to CERGE-EI last September.

Faculty Research on International Scientist Migration Cited in Prestigious Weekly

Assistant Professor Patrick Gaulé, who joined the CERGE-EI faculty this academic year, has been mentioned in an article in Nature, an international weekly journal of science.
