Topic Synthesis of shortened phoshonate analogs of 2'- and 3'-nucleotides and corresponding oligonucleotides
Faculty FCHT
Abstract

Project concerns the synthesis of C2' a C3'-phosphoryl and C2' a C3'-(H)-phosphonyl derivatives of ribo and deoxyribonucleotides both in the form of free phosphonic acids and monomeric units useful for solid phase synthesis of modified oligonucleotides. Hybridization properties of synthesized oligonucleotides and their ability to stimulate  ribonuclease H and ribonuclease L activities will be examined. The inhibition properties of new compounds will be studied with selected salvage pathway enzymes (nucleoside phosphorylases, nucleotidases, etc.), and also thorough antiviral, anticancer, and antimicrobial screening will be run.
