The primary objective of our research is to design and synthesize modified nucleic acid building blocks as the new therapeutics for various severe diseases, such as viral and bacterial infections or cancer.

Our lab has been producing libraries of novel compounds for systematic wide-range screening as well as rationally designed substances aimed at particular molecular targets. Both our approaches have recently afforded highly valuable outcomes, that will serve as a solid base for our further research.

From the structural point of view, we focus mainly on the conformationally locked nucleosides or nucleotides and variously derivatized nucleobases.
