Representatives of the ESF discussed the evaluation of research at the ASCR

The issue of the evaluation of research was the main topic of a discussion meeting of the representatives of the Academic Council of the ASCR with two directors of the European Science Foundation (ESF) – with Chief Executive of the ESF Martin Hynes, MBA, and with the Head of Evaluation Services Dr. Siobhan Phillips. The meeting took place on Wednesday, 19 November 2014 at the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences in Prague and was attended also by the President of the ASCR Prof. Jiří Drahoš.

 

The agenda dealt with component aspects of the Evaluation of the Research and Professional Activities of the Workplaces of the ASBY for 2010–2014, which has been prepared, and then also questions of the assessment of effectiveness and the impacts of the prepared Strategy of the ASCR AV21.

 

The European Science Foundation is an association of European national organizations responsible for the support of scientific research and was founded in 1974 with its headquarters in Strasbourg. It currently associates 78 member organizations (scientific institutions, academies, grant agencies etc.) from 29 states and defends the role of an independent not-for-profit institution, the members of which receive contributions from the governmental budgets of the individual countries. The members from the Czech Republic are the Academy of Sciences of the CR and the Czech Science Foundation.
