Anotace (EN):

The book presents an overview of Gravettian settlement in the Czech Republic, a region between an area with a complex Pavlovian culture in the east and the Gravettian settlement of Germany in the west, which has not been rendered in a concise manner so far.
Localities researched since the end of the 19th century reveal information about all aspects of life of Gravettian society. This book, written in English, is the first to present a complex overview of the history of excavations, the chronology of Gravettian settlement, a description of Gravettian fauna, flora, all the most important sites – and includes an analysis of settlement structure of the two largest sites researched in the 1930s (Lubná and Řevnice). There is also a description of a unique site where a mammoth was hunted down in Svobodné Dvory, the only of its kind in the Czech Republic.
