Prague Economic Meeting at CERGE-EI with Lubos Pastor and Adam Szeidl
21 June, 2011
The Prague Economic Meeting academic conference took place at CERGE-EI on June 16-18. The conference, co-organized by CERGE-EI, think-tank ISEA, and non-profit organization Virtual Scientific Organization, attracted 40 researchers from many countries and gave young researchers in particular an opportunity to present their unpublished results and discuss their ideas with their colleagues.
The keynote lecture, entitled “Uncertainty about Government Policy and Stock Prices,” was given by Lubos Pastor, Charles P. McQuaid Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy and Research. In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics, as a Director of the Western Finance Association, and is a former Associate Editor of the Review of Financial Studies.
The second plenary lecture was given by Adam Szeidl, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at University of California, Berkeley. The topic of his lecture was “A Model of Focusing in Economic Choice”.
By organizing the conference, CERGE-EI continued its efforts to create a tradition of high-quality economic conferences with participation of researchers from the region. The conference also promoted interactions between researches, while emphasizing the importance of talent and its development for modern societies and, in particular, economic growth.
