Curriculum vitae
Prof. Ing. Václav Tesař, CSc.
received his degree in mechanical engineering from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, ČVUT–Czech Technical University, Prague, Czech Republic and was up to 1999 employed at the Department of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics at ČVUT, as an Assistant Lecturer, later Lecturer, and finally as a Full Professor of Fluid Mechanics. Between 1994 and 1998 was the Head of the Department of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering ČVUT Prague. Received his CSc. degree (an equivalent of Ph.D.) from ČVUT Prague in 1972. In 1985, he was Visiting Professor at Keio University, Yokohama, Japan. In 1992 he stayed as Visiting Professor at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, USA. Between 1999 and 2005 was Professor at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering in the Process Fluidics Group at the University of Sheffield, UK. Since 2006 has been employed at the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague. His research interests cover shear flows, in particular jets and wall jets and the application of these flows in the no-moving-part fluidics. He is named as the inventor on 196 Czech Patents, mainly on various fluidic devices. Recently became involved in the new field of microfluidics. An author of 4 textbooks and more than 340 papers in various journals and conference proceedings, recently he wrote the monograph "Pressure-Driven Microfluidics", published by ArtechHouse in Boston, USA.
