Postdoktorandské projekty ÚOCHB


Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i., is opening postdoctoral positions in chemistry and biochemistry. The IOCB will open up to 10 positions per year. The position is open for one year, with possible extension by one more year, if agreed by both parties. The applicant is expected to have a Ph.D. degree from a reputable foreign university, because of the advantage of external experience.

In addition to competitive salary, the Institute will pay obligatory parts of the health and social insurances (about 2/3). The health insurance coverage will be the same as that of the permanent Czech employees. The salary is subject of state tax. There is also a possibility of accommodation in Institute or Academy guest houses.

EU citizens will need no work permit, citizens of other countries will obtain it from the Czech Embassy in their own country. The Institute will provide the necessary documents for obtaining the work permit and can arrange for additional assistance if needed (at the expenses of the applicant). The applicant has to contact a scientist at the Institute, put together the postdoctoral project, and submit the application in an electronic form to uochb@uochb.cas.cz. The application should include:

  • Contact address
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Copy of Ph.D. diploma
  • List of publications
  • Name of IOCB partner
  • A support letter by the IOCB partner of the applicant
  • A clear and concise project program, which summarizes the state of the art, details the projected investigations and puts the project in a context of the host group research activities (3-4 pages)
  • Starting date
  • Whether the work permit is needed
  • Whether the accommodation is required
  • Two letters of recommendation, which can be included in the application package or sent separately by the referee to uochb@uochb.cas.cz
  • Applications are accepted twice a year, with submission deadlines on April 1st and October 1st


For extensions of postdoctoral projects the following documents must be provided:

  • A cover letter
  • A support letter from the Advisor
  • A summary of results of the first year not exceeding two to three pages
  • Plans for the extension period not exceeding two to three pages
  • Copies of publications published, submitted, or drafts

All documents (except for the recommendation letters) must be sent in a single pdf file. Incomplete application packages will not be considered.
