High energy deep-inelastic electron proton collisions are the cleanest ways to study the inner structure of the proton. The electron can probe the proton and its constituents via the electromagnetic interaction, much in the spirit of the famous Rutherford experiment. The electrons thereby send virtual photons towards the proton scanning its internal structure like an electron microscope renders the image of an object.  The full text >>

Successful organization of the international conference CHEP 2009 (Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics) in Prague together with CESNET, Charles University, Czech Technical University and Nuclear Physics Institute AS CR in March 2009. Six hundred people from 4 continents took part in the conference and presented 500 contributions.  The full text >>

Design, production, testing and installation of the high voltage fanouts for 5000 channels of the muon detector of the D0 experiment at FNAL. All the work was done by our technicians in 1997 – 1998.

Organization of the Collaboration workshop of the D0 experiment in collaboration with colleagues from the Czech Technical University in 2008.

Design, production, delivery and installation of the low voltage power system (LVPS) for the TILECAL hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment. In 2003 FZU was charged with responsibility for the LVPS project. CERN and Argonne collaborated on the project, most of the parts were designed and put to production by Czech engineers and most of the production was realized in the Czech Republic. The cost of LVS was 2 mil.  The full text >>

Design, production and delivery of the high voltage power supplies to power 10 000 photomultipliers of the hadronic calorimeter TILECAL of the ATLAS experiment during years 1997-2004. Final production was done in the TESLA a.s. company in Prague.  The full text >>

The production of 309 pieces of one tonne weight submodules for the hadronic calorimeter TILECAL of the ATLAS experiment. The production took place in 8 laboratories in Europe and USA (Argonne, Arlington, Barcelona, Dubna, Chicago, Pisa, Protvino, Urbana and Valencia). We have produced one quarter of the central part of the calorimeter.  The full text >>
