Postdoc in the Mathematical Thermodynamics of Fluids
Opening of Applications: 6/1/2015
Deadline for Applications: 31/3/2015
Further Details and Application Form
Description/Comments:
A three-year postdoctoral position is available within the framework of the European Research Council Advanced Grant Mathematical Thermodynamics of Fluids (MATHEF) under the direction of Prof. Eduard Feireisl. The successful candidate will be based in the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, performing mathematical research on the part of the project devoted to the mathematical theory of the Navier-Stokes-Fourier and related systems. The successful applicant is expected to develop numerical methods for solving various flow problems related to the dynamics of compressible and heat conducting fluids. The task will include analysis of discretization methods and their implementation with emphasis on efficiency, robustness and reliability. Close interaction with the model development and analysis part of the project is expected. The applicant is also expected to take part in the activities of the research group of the Institute of Mathematics ASCR, in particular, the seminars, international schools, and workshops.
Applications are invited from candidates who have completed their Ph.D. within the last 6 years (or will complete their Ph.D. degree by the end of April 2015), and who have strong background in the mathematical theory and numerical solution of partial differential equations, including good knowledge of numerical methods. Publications as well as other activities and professional achievements will be judged by the stage of their career. Informal enquiries should be directed to the Project Manager, Dr. Beata Kubiś.
