This talk will present recent work on two alternative families of dilute magnetic semiconductor materials. The first half of the talk will present the study of undoped and Cr and V-doped Sb₂Te₃ crystals, showing classical Drude conductivity behavior. The second half of the talk will review the recent attempts to prepare Ge:Mn by ion implantation. Structural, magnetic and temperature dependent infrared characterizations will be discussed.
