Charge transfer processes in organic nano- and hetero-structures

Seminar Monday, 10/11/2014 15:00 - 16:00

Speakers: Prof. Alberto Morgante (IOM-CNR Institute and Physics Department, Trieste University, Italy)
Place: FZU lecture hall - Na Slovance
Presented in English
Organisers: Department of Analysis of Functional Materials

I will briefly present the activities of the CNR-IOM Institute that I’m directing.
The CNR-IOM institute is based in Grenoble, Perugia and Cagliari with headquarters based in Trieste at TASC Laboratory. IOM performs research activities in the field of material science and nanoscience applying advanced experimental and theoretical methods.
In IOM labs an extensive range of very advanced experimental apparatuses is present, some of these are run as facilities open to external users among these a large number of beamlines at the Italian synchrotron radiation facility Elettra and at the European synchrotron and neutron sources ESRF and ILL. It also has facilities for growing advanced materials (semiconductors, carbon based, metal oxide superconductors) and microscopy laboratories (STM, TEM and SEM) and nanofabrication facilities.
Moreover it has developed some of the most advanced theoretical methods presently available (e.g. Quantum Espresso) which are currently used worldwide by the scientific community.
