Abstrakt: Almost all processes in the life of a plant are directly or indirectly affected by both stresses and phytohormones. Nevertheless, apart from abscisic acid (ABA), the role of phytohormones in plant response to water stress is far from being fully elucidated (for recent review see Pospisilova 2003a). The stomatal limitations to photosynthesis are usually predominant under mild water stress, while under severe water stress non-stomatal limitations are at least equally important (e.g., Maroco et al 2002). In previous experiments we found that benzyladenine (BA) simultaneously applied with ABA partially reversed the effects of ABA on stomatal conductance (gs), transpiration rate (E), and net photosynthetic rate (PN) in plants sufficiently supplied with water (Pospisilova 2003b). This paper was focused on the effects of BA and ABA on stomatal and non-stomatal limitation to photosynthesis during water stress and subsequent rehydration.
