I'm leader of the Research group of Thermodynamics of Task-Specific Materials of the E. Hála Laboratory of Separation Processes. My main research topics concern the study of liquid phase behaviour in multicomponent mixtures containing ionic liquids as well as critical phenomena in such mixtures.

Knowledge of liquid-liquid equilibria in multicomponent systems is very important in the design and optimization of industrial separation processes, i.e. extraction and extractive distillation. Solvents that would selectively dissolve given solutes are therefore looked for. In this regard ionic liquids seem to have a great potential to become such selective solvents.

I am also supervisor of graduate students, Associate Editor of Journal of Solution Chemistry, and am in charge of organising the annual Doors Open Days in our Institute as well as of science popularising activities.
