Knowledge Economics
An international conference was held at the Congress Centre of the Czech National Bank in Prague 22nd April 2004. The conference focused on education, knowledge and knowledge by experience which represents a prime competitive advantage for society, national economics and entrepreneurs. Knowledge economics is elemental for science and research outcome evaluation.

Return money back to research
Interview with Prof. Rudolf Haňka, Head of the Medical Information Unit at Cambridge University. During his visit to the spring Academic Assembly we asked him about breaking down the barriers between science and business at University of Cambridge, spin-off companies and extraordinary local growth of high technology, referred to as the Cambridge Phenomenon.
SCIENCE AND RESEARCH
Conference at IKEM
A Conference of the Institute of Experimental Medicine (IKEM), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic was held at the Institute. Stem cell research is the very cornerstone of biomedical sciences now. The most recent results in research were presented.
Seismology, Geophysics and Geotechnic Expansion
A regional conference discussed this topic again in Ostrava and enriched the field of geophysics.
European Network of GMO Laboratories
As part of the enlargement process, 24 national enforcement laboratories from the EU acceding countries signed an agreement in Prague to become part of the European Network of Genetically Modified Organisms Laboratories.
Confession and the Nation during the Reformation
British, Czech and Slovak historiographers met in a forum at Pardubice Castle at the end of March. Participants in the conference devoted their attention to the medieval and modern period of history.
