OPEN SCIENCE - PROMOTION OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
 
The educational project with the title of Open Science opens access for students to scientific and research workplaces via student internship, the lifelong learning courses for the secondary school teachers allow bring the latest knowledge and scientific results to the schools, the science communication courses for the researchers learn how to communicate the outcomes of their scientific work and develop the art of presenting their ideas not only in the scientific community but also towards the media.
 
We open a direct path from school to science
  • Open Science project creates such conditions for talented students in order to capture their interest for technical and natural sciences and to motivate them for the scientific career. Secondary school students obtain internships in various scientific institutes, where they can either carry out their own research or join any of the current projects underway, led by the scientific tutors. The project is based on a system of the internships at the public research institutions of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and at universities.

 

  • The aim of the project is also attract and confront the secondary school teachers with the latest news in the science, to mediate them meeting well-known Czech scientists and educate them in the innovative educational approaches mainly in the practical education in labs. The goal is to support natural and technical sciences and through teachers to motivate students to start their scientific career. This goal is achieved via annually organized educational courses in biology, chemistry and physics.

 

  • The science communication courses for the researchers enable to learn how to communicate the outcomes of their scientific work and develop the art of presenting their ideas not only towards the media but also to the secondary schools.

 

The Open Science project is focused on the recruitment of human resources in a long-term disadvantaged field of research – natural and technical sciences. The main objectives of the project: to support talented secondary school students, to create methodology for scientific training of talented students, to set up a network of long-term cooperation between secondary schools and institutions of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

 

The Open Science project was approved within the Operational Programme Education for Competitiveness, implemented with the financial support of the European Social Fund and the Czech Republic.
The registration number of the project is reg. č. CZ.1.07/2.3.00/35.0023.
The project was begun on 1 July 2012 and lasts until 30 June 2014.
