Dirk Engelmann graduated from the University of Göttingen in 1995 in Mathematics and received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Humboldt-University Berlin in 2000. In 2004 he defended his habilitation in economics, also at the Humboldt-University. During 1996-2001 he was a Research and teaching Assistant at Humboldt-University Berlin. During 2003-2004 he was an Assistant Professor at CERGE, Charles University. From September 2004 to August 2006 he was a Reader and from August 2006 to August 2010 Professor of Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London and from July 2008 Director of the Experimental Economics Laboratory. Since September 2010, Professor of Economics and Director of the Experimental Economics Laboratory at the University of Mannheim. Since 2007 he is an Affiliate Researcher, Centre for Experimental Economics (CEE), University of Copenhagen and since 2010 a CESifo Research Network Fellow. Since September 2008 he serves as an Associate Editor, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. From Fall 2008 till 2011 he was at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as a Senior Researcher. He is an editorial board member at the American Economic Review since April 2011 and an Associate Editor at the Economic Journal since November 2011.
