Alumni Profiles
Zuzana Fungáčová is an Economist at Bank of Finland's Institute of Economics in Transition (BOFIT) in Helsinki. She received her PhD from CERGE-EI in 2009 after defending her dissertation, titled "Privatization and Stock Market Creation: Evidence from Transition Economies". She began her PhD studies at CERGE-EI having previously earned an MSc degree in Business Administration from the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. Zuzana has been employed as an Economist BOFIT since September 2007, specialising in issues related to the development of Russia's banking and financial system. She spent time at BOFIT as a Visiting Researcher in spring 2006.
Her research interests are primarily concentrated around the banking sector in Russia. Some of her recent publications include "Asymmetric information and loan spreads in Russia: Evidence from syndicated loans" with Christophe Godlewski and Laurent Weill in Eastern European Economics and "Determinants of bank interest margins in Russia: Does bank ownership matter?" with fellow CERGE-EI alumnus Tigran Poghosyan in Economic Systems.
