Joachim Reichert (Physik Department, TU München, Germany)

In order to advance the development of unimolecular electronic devices (e.g. film devices) it is mandatory to improve understanding of electron transport and its loss mechanisms in single molecules. In this aspect, multi-parameter studies are required to provide more information on such systems.

Kirill Belashchenko (University of Nebraska-Lincol)

Abstract: Thermal spin fluctuations are present in equilibrium in all magnetic materials. These fluctuations interact with electronic quasiparticles and induce temperature-dependent changes in such observables as the spectral densities, magnetocrystalline anisotropy, and transport properties. This talk will review surprising examples of such effects in metallic magnets found using first-principles calculations. Spin fluctuations are included in these calculations within the vector disordered local moment model.

Václav Drchal (Department of Condensed Matter Theory, FZÚ AV ČR, v.v.i.)

Abstract: We have calculated the electronic structure and angle-resolved photoemission spectra of Heusler alloys from first principles using the TB-LMTO method. The disorder, caused either by non-stoichiometry, or by swapping of atoms between sublattices is treated within the CPA. Matrix elements are included within the dipole approximation.
