CERGE Charles University
The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE) was established in 1991 as the first modern doctoral program in economics in the post-communist transition. It is an independent unit of Charles University in Prague, which was founded in 1348 as the first university in Central Europe and is among the oldest universities in Europe. CERGE was created with additional support from the international academic and a donor community.
CERGE grants an EU-nostrified PhD degree in Economics and Econometrics fully accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education. The institute produces premier economic research as part of the CERGE-EI joint workplace.
