News
CERGE-EI Community for Georgia
25 June, 2015
An extraordinarily tragic flood occurred in the Vere River valley in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on the night of 13-14 June, 2015. It resulted in at least 19 people losing their lives and severely damaged the Tbilisi Zoo, leaving half of its animal population either dead or on the loose.
We want to help the people who have suffered through this ordeal by helping to fund the establishment of small camps of inflatable tents, where volunteers will be based in order to help those in need.
We aim to raise money to provide:
• food and water to those in need
• provide blankets (many people whose houses were destroyed are sleeping in the streets)
• provide health care to those in the local camps
If you would like to make a cash donation to help the families affected by the flood please bring your donations to Study Affairs Office by July 16.
For those who will be attending the summer beer party, we will be selling raffle tickets to raise funds as has been done on the past for other charitable collections.
On behalf of the Georgian students at CERGE-EI we would like to thank you for your support!
Nikoloz Kudashvili
Ph.D. Student at CERGE-EI
