Laboratory Research Technician - Dr. Norbert Weiss Group
We are looking for an enthusiastic full-time Research Technician to joint the group "Ion Channels & Diseases" based at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry in Prague, Czech Republic.
Our group is directed toward the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neuronal human diseases caused by dysfunction of ion channels, so-called channelopathies. The laboratory especially studies various aspects of neuronal voltage-gated calcium channels using a combination of electrophysiological recording (patch-clamp), molecular (PCR, cloning, site directed mutagenesis) and biochemistry (immunoblot, immunoprecipitation) techniques, immunocytochemistry and confocal imaging microscopy to analyse the mechanisms of sorting and trafficking of those channels, regulation pathways, and contribution to neuronal excitability. For more information, please see theweisslab.com.
The successful candidate will assist our laboratory research by providing a wide range of technical assistance. Major responsability of the role holder will include primary / immortal neuronal cell culture, cell transfection, general lab maintenance, and administrative assistance. Techniques used may include but are not limited to: immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy, and basic molecular biology and biochemistry.
The successful candidate will hold a M.Sc. in Biological sciences or an equivalent qualification and will have experience with primary neuronal cell culture and transfection. The candidate should be proficient in english.
Interested candidates should send their resume/CV (in english), brief description of their research interests, and the names and contact information of 2 references to Norbert Weiss (weiss@uochb.cas.cz).
