The focus of the project is weather and air quality forecast. In the Institute of Computer Science we run numerical weather prediction models and a chemistry transport model. The weather prediction model provides forecasts of basic meteorological quantities (pressure, temperature, precipitation, cloudiness, wind direction and velocity) for the horizon of three days. The air quality model forecasts concentrations of key pollutants - tropospheric ozone, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter - for the next day. The forecasts are issued in the form of meteorological maps for middle Europe and the Czech Republic. The forecasts are presented on a user-friendly web site and they are widely used by the general public and many different institutions. The project is developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University and with the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
