prof. RNDr. Jiří Hořejší, DrSc.

horejsi.jpgJ. Hořejší graduated from Charles University Prague, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in 1974. Received Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 1980 and in the same year got the first contract at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics as a research fellow. Between 1981 and 1986 worked at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna (Russia). In 1991 achieved the habilitation in theoretical particle physics at the Charles University and became docent (associate professor). In 1995 received the scientific degree DrSc. (Doctor of Science) and in 1998 was appointed professor in theoretical particle physics.

In 1999 got the position of full professor and between 1999 and 2009 he was director of the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics at Charles University. Currently he is a member of several scientific councils of the academic institutions in Czech Republic. For about twenty years he lectures on quantum field theory and theoretical particle physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, several times he also gave lectures at international summer schools in Austria. While he started his scientific career in theoretical nuclear physics, he soon switched to particle physics and his main topic now is theory of electroweak interactions; in the recent past he worked also on quantum anomalies and applications of perturbative quantum chromodynamics. Apart from the articles published in scientific journals he authored two monographs on the electroweak theory. His works received about 1100 citations.
