The HiLASE laser center situated in the village of Dolni Brezany was awarded in the 23rd edition of the Building of the Year Awards. The Special award from Milan Štěch, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, was given by Mr. Zdeněk Škromach, the Vice-president of the Senate. The trophy was taken over in the Bethlehem Chapel by the Director of the Institute of Physics, Mr. Jan Řídký, by the authors of the HiLASE building Mrs Vladimíra Leníčková, Mr. David Leníček, Mr. Robert Leníček and the deputy contractor Mr. Petr Ovčáček.

Team led by As. Prof. I. Kratochvílová obtained award TAČR 2015 for successfully solved project TA01011165 "Synthetic multi-epitope vaccine against Lyme disease for veterinary applications"

In present time, Lyme disease can be treated by rapid application of antibiotics in an early stage. However, a great number of patients is not cured in time and many have life-long health consequences.

During the Neuron Science Future gala which took place at the Archa theatre in Prague on the 6th May 2015, the Neuron foundation for science support announced five laureates of the Neuron Award 2015 for young scientists. The award is annually presented to researches under 40 for their outstanding scientific results. Along with their awards, the recipients received cheques for a total of 1,250,000 Czech crowns in total in recognition of their present work.

Tomáš Jungwirth from the Institute of Physics ASCR was elected this year a member of the Academy of Europe (Academia Europaea). This prestigious institution was founded in 1988 as an international non-governmental association of European scientists and scholars who are leading experts in their fields. The Academy’s mission is to encourage the highest possible standards in scholarship, research and education, to promote a wider appreciation of the value of European scholarship and research, and to promote a better understanding among the public of the benefits of knowledge and learning, and of scientific and scholarly issues which affect society, its quality of life and its standards of living.

The Josef Hlávka Prize is awarded to talented students at bachelor's, master's and postgraduate levels up to the age of 33, who have proved their exceptional capabilities and creative thinking in their branch of science. The names of the winners of this year's Josef Hlávka Prize were announced at Hlávka's manor house in Lužany near Přeštice on November 16, 2013.
