“I am from Vietnam and have been living with my family in the Czech Republic for the past five years. I currently work part-time in the Finance Strategic Planning department at AVG Technologies CZ, while studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Applied Economics at CERGE-EI because I want to become a financial analyst with an in-depth understanding of economic principles and strong quantitative skills. The premise is that those financial analysts who have solid economic reasoning and ability to see the big picture gain a significant competitive advantage over those who focus only on analyzing the company and its industry without paying much attention to the underlying trends and drivers of the overall economy.

Obviously my aspiration is to work in the investment industry. The MA in Applied Economics will allow me to explore which specific field I would like to work in, whether corporate finance, equity research and analysis, financial advisory, fund management or investment banking.”
