The objective of this sociologically-oriented project is to encourage the development of the following processes: a) implementation of binding European standards for equal opportunities policies for men and women in various spheres of social life, b) political and civil acceptance of equal opportunities policies, c) social acceptance of these policies. The core of the project is the analysis of institutional, social and civil issues related to the position of women in Czech society.

V realizaci a vydávání informačního čtvrtletníku „Gender – rovné příležitosti - výzkum“ vidíme možnost, jak efektivně propojit výzkum a aktuální otázky související s postavením žen v české společnosti.
Paper is focused on changes in Czech obstetrics. At the end of 1990s they have started to be discussed not only by professionals but also between professionals, mothers and nongovernmental organizations. The discussion stressed differences between motherŽs childbirth experience, differences between childbirth practice of various childbirth hospitals and tendencies to professionalize midwives.
První knihy, které zkoumaly ženy jako celek, tedy jako skupinu, která se vyznačuje určitými vlastnostmi, se neobjevily před třiceti lety v době, kdy se začalo objevovat slovo gender. Takové knihy jsou s námi odnepamět a kdo četl knihu Virginie Woolf Vlastní pokoj si do zajisté vzpomene na jej nezapomenutelný seznam publikací, které ve svém názvu nesou slovo žena. Oproti současnému bádání se ale tyto knihy opírají o určitou představu „lidské přirozenosti“, která je dána biologicky.
The text focuses on the analysis of the experience with unemployment and the proces of seeking for work of two cathegories of women: women university graduates and women after parental leave.
This chapter deal with men's and women's roles in the contemporary Czech family, the shifts of these roles during times, inequalities of the division of labor and division of duties in a private sphere. Gender inequalities are discussed to the relation to the gender contract in the family.
