RNDr. Tomáš Vondrák, CSc.

Tomáš Vondrák joined the Technology Centre in 2008. He specializes in scientometric and bibliometric evaluation of research and development and on the science benchmarking. He deals with quantitative methods for the evaluation of R&D programs and with the design of quantitative indicators and methodologies for the characterization of R&D systems and their rational management. He is involved in the updating of the National Policy of R&D and Innovations of the Czech Republic for the years 2009 – 2015. He coauthors the yearbook Analysis of the State of R&D and Innovations in the Czech Republic and the Comparison with Foreign Countries.

Tomáš graduated from the Science Faculty, Charles University, with the specialization in organic chemistry .He received his PhD degree in chemical physics from the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry where he has worked until mid-nineties. The topic of his interest was the application of photoelectron spectroscopy in the studies of electron structure of molecules. After yearlong research fellowships at the University of Kentucky and the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Hukoriku, Tomáš worked at the Department of Chemistry, University of Minnesota from 1997 to 1999.  The topic of his research interests were experimental studies of excited states on surfaces and photochemistry of adsorbates. He has continued this research at the School of Chemical Sciences, University of East Anglia between 1999 and 2001. From 2002 he was with the School of Environmental Sciences, UEA and later with the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds. The topic of his research interests was chemistry and physics of the upper atmosphere. He has published over 40 research papers in international journals.
