On November 27th, the Technology Centre of the AS CR held a conference on the transition of universities to full cost. In the 7th Framework Programme the different cost models will be abolished and for the majority of projects a single cost model based on the reimbursement of eligible costs will remain the only option.
More and more universities throughout Europe consider it necessary in a long term perspective to transform their accounting systems to full economic costs. The aim of the conference was to present to the management of Czech universities and research institutes the different approaches to full costing of the British and Dutch universities. Nearly 300 participants listened to the speakers, Mette Skraastad and Lotte Jaspers from Yellow Research. The lively discussions during and after the conference indicated a need for a specific Czech full cost system. Several countries such as Sweden, Austria, Finland or Denmark already started to discuss and develop their systems on a national level. The conference might have been the first step to launch this discussion in the Czech Republic as well.
