Global

CERGE-EI has become a truly global institution with a diverse student body, international faculty holding PhDs from top universities in the US and Europe, alumni working in over 30 countries around the world, and ranking among leading economic institutes in the region by SSRN and RePEC. We place emphasis on high-quality research in theoretical, applied and policy-related economics.

Our international scientific collaboration is strengthened by our role as the Central and East European Regional Network representative for the Global Development Network (GDN), as a national partner for the Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) which has become the first European Research Infrastracture Consortium, and by our ability to attract top economists, including Nobel Laureates, to give public lectures and seminars.

We have a global outreach and impact through our study programs (MA in Economics, PhD in Economics, MA in Applied Economics, UPCES study abroad, IEF study abroad) and the Teaching Fellows program, which helps to educate more than 9,000 undergraduates annually in modern economics. Our PhD students benefit from an extensive mobility program that enables them to conduct part of their research at prestigious universities in the United States and Western Europe. We also welcome visiting students.

The prestigious international members of the Executive and Supervisory Committee ensure that the high standards required for international institution are fulfilled.
