Branislav Saxa

Branislav Saxa is a Senior Economist at the Czech National Bank, working as the Head of the Monetary Analyses and Monetary Policy Transmission Unit. He earned his Master’s degree in the Mathematics of Economics and Finance from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and started his PhD studies at CERGE-EI in 2003.  He defended his PhD thesis entitled “Essays on Exporting Behavior of Firms and on Inflation Persistence” in 2009 and in 2010 the thesis won the CEE Best PhD Thesis Award for outstanding doctoral dissertations in economics and finance on European integration issues, organized by the UniCredit & Universities Foundation. During his studies, Branislav completed an internship in the European Central Bank in 2006, started working as an analyst at the Czech National Bank from 2007, and was promoted into the position of Senior Economist in 2008. He also taught Business Statistics at Anglo-American University in Prague from 2007 till 2012, and has been teaching on the CERGE-EI’s Master of Arts in Applied Economics program since 2013.
