Dmitriy Vorobyev is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Economics and Management (GSEM) at Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Russia. He defended his thesis, titled "Essays on Electoral Fraud" in the end of 2013. Before beginning his PhD studies at CERGE-EI, he held a Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad, Russia.

During his time at CERGE-EI, he spent a research stay in the United States at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, and also taught several undergradaute courses in the CERGE-EI Teaching Fellows program in a number of Russian universities (Irkutsk, Kazan, Yakutsk and Kaliningrad). His research interests are in voting theory, policical economy, and electoral fraud.
