    Research project

The aim of my research is to develop a notion of utterance as a basic semantic unit. Regarding that, I follow modern conceptions of language (esp. É. Benveniste, F. Rastier) which consider utterance as an autonomous entity independent of linguistic rules or particular lingusitic systems. Accordingly, I focus on the phenomenon of context which I take - putting the rules in question - as a key determinant of sense.

An important part of my project represents a verification of relevant linguistic categories. Predominantly, I apply the categories to the domain of experimental literature as the texts of this sort often do not respect linguistic rules and as their interpretation relies solely on the context of speech.

I also translate philosophical texts from English, French, and German into Czech (e.g. Immanuel Kant, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Émile Benveniste).
