Popis: I:\Plnění\Institute_MENU\Logos-02.png     The European Dana Alliance for the Brain (EDAB) is an organisation of 212 eminent brain scientists, including five nobel laureates, from 29 countries. Launched in 1997, and modelled on the US-based Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, EDAB is committed to enhancing the public’s understanding of why brain research is so important. EDAB brings the excitement of scientific progress to the general public and opinion-formers by working in partnership with charities, universities, schools, hospitals, the arts, the media and professional organisations.

BAW_Stanislava_Kyselova.jpgEvery March, EDAB coordinates Brain Awareness Week, during which hundreds of public events in dozens of countries celebrate the progress of brain research.
In the Czech Republic, Brain Awareness Week activities are organized by the Institute of Experimental Medicine ASCR and by Czech Society of Neuroscience, by the Centre of Neuroscience and by the Centre of Administration and Operations ASCR.
Brain Awareness Week in the Czech Republic begins with a press briefing for members of the print, broadcast and electronic media, followed by a series of public lectures given by leading Czech neuroscientists and clinicians, intended for interested members of the general public as well as high school, gymnasium and university students, and focusing on important contemporary topics in brain research, psychology and psychiatry, and the treatment of nervous system disorders and diseases. Admission to these lectures is free and is open to all interested individuals of any age. In Prague, these lectures are held at the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, located at Národní 3, Prague 1.
