The Institute for Contemporary History is pleased to announce it has just released the third volume of its English-written academic journal. The main aim of the Czech Journal of Contemporary History is to offer interesting and indeed important studies, essays, reports and reviews (previously mostly published in the Soudobé dějiny journal) in English to the broad international readership interested in contemporary Czech and Central European history and thus contribute to the academic discussion on the international level. Dovolujeme si upozornit, že vyšel komplet pěti knižních svazků a pěti DVD přinášejících třicet portrétů osobností české vědy a vzdělanosti ve 20. století. Jedná se o výsledek projektu, na němž spolupracovaly Ústav pro soudobé dějiny AV ČR (Kabinet dějin vědy) a Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Pardubice. Více viz tiskovou zprávu.

Výuková simulace Československo 38–89: Atentát, kterou vyvinuli odborníci z Filozofické a Matematicko-fyzikální fakulty Univerzity Karlovy v Praze ve spolupráci s Ústavem pro soudobé dějiny Akademie věd ČR, získala první cenu v prestižní soutěži European Conference on Games Based Learning 2015, pořádané v norském Steinkjeru.

To mark the twentieth anniversary of November 17, 1989, a new website was opened at http://www.89.usd.cas.cz/en.html. Through the title, (1989 Democratic Revolution), we hoped to articulate the idea of the last weeks of 1989 as viewed by major collective perceptions, values, and expressions. This website intends to provide both professional and amateur researchers with basic information, images, and interpretations, offering easier access to material previously edited and published, to the archives of the Institute for Contemporary history, and last but not least, to material the use of which was permitted by other institutions and individuals. We intend to supply more documents and images dating from January 1987 to June 1990.
