Project: Climate change effects on heat waves and their recurrence probabilities
The main aims of the project are as follows: i) to evaluate heat waves in up-to-date climate model simulations, with focus on ability of the models to reproduce observed characteristics of heat waves and their links to atmospheric circulation ii) to estimate recurrence probabilities of the recent severe heat waves observed in both regions by simulations with a stochastic time series model, in the present climate as well as under future climate change scenarios.
