PhD Positions in Computational Condensed Matter Physics

The PhD positions are available in the Kuneš group at the Institute of Physics, CAS in Prague (Czech Republic). The positions are funded by the ERC Consolidator grant (project EXMAG). The project is focused on numerical investigations of ordering phenomena in Hubbard-type models and/or real materials. The work will involve development and application of numerical methods based on dynamical mean-field theory and/or density functional theory.

Successful applicant(s) should have M.Sc. or equivalent degree in physics or quantum chemistry, be fluent in English and be able to write computer codes in Fortran or C++. Interested candidates with a background in computer science or numerical mathematics will also be considered. Experience with numerical simulations of quantum lattice or impurity problems, or with density functional theory are welcome.

Applicants should send their CV and a letter of interest to Dr. Jan Kuneš (kunesatfzu [dot] cz). They should also arrange for one letter of reference to be sent to the same address. The review of applications will start on June 20, 2015 and continue until the positions are filled. The duration of the contract will be four years with initial appointment for one year. The salary is commensurate with similar positions on German universities.
